New to YSL and trying to understand all the differences! I am most interested in the Small Loulou in black leather with gold hardware, thought about the black hardware but have read some threads about issues with wear and chipping. .
I have a YSL bag, not the same one but it had the same issue. It is the YSL shopping tote bag. I had the cracking happen in the corners or the bag as well as wearing away completely in the edges after about 6 months.
You would try leather lotion (black) from Ecco. They have 2 types ( transparent & black ) .. It could help to adjust colour, but it couldn’t help to restore shape . I have noticed that a lot of YSL bags seem to be prone to issues with the glue seals. I have seen cracked seals on brand new (authentic) Roadys, easy and Chyc bags. Not sure what causes it and how to stop it. Typically an edge paint is used to seal up the leather to prevent damage and as a result it needs to be stable under different and extreme conditions. The edge paint that YSL is somewhat poor because it can literally melt under high humidity and high heat.
I took it to the Chloe store and they had it repaired for me for free and they only had my bag for a week. Sealant on handles is a pretty easy fix. Any good shoe repair place that deals with high end shoes and bags can fix this. You can also take it to a YSL store and have them do the repair.
