In the end, in order to remove the watch, I had to remove a link.
Searching I see that this a common problem, one button stays depressed, and as a really weird side note the clasp has locked up on me three or four times BUT only when I move my watch to my right wrist! I have an Omega Seamaster Coaxial - off late the clasp does not close as both the side buttons are depressed inside. Possible cause is that the inside spring is broken. Called the boutique and they said they only sell the complete clasp.
